That’s a wrap!
The holiday season has come to a close – which means it’s time to share our 2017 Holiday Contest winners! This year, our Marketing department was hard at work brainstorming, concepting, and designing this project. It all began with a cookie…
The (Gingerbread) Man, the Myth, the Legend
Our goal? Create a printed piece that looked good enough to eat, and one that would add some festive cheer to any office space! Produced on our Komori and printed on low-tack vinyl, our Gingerbread Man was ready to take center stage. But it seemed something was missing — he had no accessories! That’s where our clients came in. Our contest was a festive take on “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” but instead of a tail, items included an iPhone, a candy “cane”, buttons, and even a “mom” tattoo, printed on vinyl and kiss-cut for easy application.
Knowing our clients are a creative bunch, we wanted to give them every opportunity to make their Gingerbread Man their own! But what would a contest be without a challenge? Of course, our participants were blindfolded and armed with the help of their fellow teammates and verbal cues.

Hot off the press, and into an oven
The ideas for the creative packaging design poured in, and once one of our designers mentioned: “What if we deliver the cookie in an oven?” we knew it had to be done. Thankfully, our extensive capabilities allowed for some pretty out-of-the-box concepts, and all of our Prisma teams got to work finding solutions to make our appliance dreams a reality!
Our Komori played a major role in this project — printing the box and even applying varnishes and spot reticulating in-line. These finishes added a realistic touch by providing a glossy shine to our “metallic” surfaces while leaving the rest of the oven matte. The finished product wouldn’t be complete without some strategic embossing. Thanks to our Iijima, the handle, range coils, and oven knobs were raised to add the 3D effect.
The snacks are always a fan favorite. Every year we make an effort to supply locally sourced goodies, and this year the Fairytale Brownies and flavored almonds from Almond Brothers were a hit!
We want to thank everyone who participated — your submissions and positive feedback are what make this annual campaign so worthwhile!
