As Baby Boomers phase out, the next wave of New-to-Medicare members will be Gen X. This group is more digitally savvy and expects a seamless brand experience. If we don’t start preparing now, we’ll be playing catch-up later. It’s crucial that we adapt our strategies to meet the expectations of this tech-savvy audience. 

2️⃣ Data Makes It All Work 

Data isn’t just about finding the next best member; it’s about understanding who they are, what they need, and how to keep them engaged. By leveraging data effectively, we can drive more personalized and impactful marketing efforts, ensuring we connect with members in meaningful ways. 

3️⃣ Retention is About Healthier Members 

Retention isn’t just about keeping members; it’s about keeping them healthier. Personalized outreach and support can drive better health outcomes through medication adherence, proactive care management, and early intervention. Engaged members are healthier members, and healthier members are more likely to stay with their plans. 

4️⃣ The Power of an All-Channel Communication Strategy 

An all-channel communication strategy, including direct mail, is essential for reaching and engaging members effectively. Direct mail remains a powerful tool, especially for shifting demographics who may prefer tangible communication. Combining direct mail with digital channels ensures a comprehensive approach that meets members where they are. 

5️⃣ Automation and Simplification 

Automation and simplification are key to streamlining processes and improving efficiency. By automating routine tasks and simplifying workflows, we can focus more on strategic initiatives and personalized member interactions. This approach not only saves time but also enhances the overall member experience.

Productivity Insights from Keynote Presenters 

Keynote presenters Dr. Sahar Yousef and Professor Lucas Miller, cognitive neuroscientists and MBA faculty at UC Berkeley, shared some fantastic insights on productivity and performance. They highlighted three common mistakes and provided tips to overcome them, potentially increasing productivity by up to 25% without working longer hours. 

Mistake 1: Living in a Messy Digital Environment Our devices and apps that constantly notify and interrupt us drain our energy, focus, and cognitive capacity. Tips: Hide self-view during video calls, turn off most notifications on smartphones, and make devices less stimulating by using grayscale mode. Power down your phone at the end of the day or put it face down in another room. 

Mistake 2: Being a Passenger, Not a Driver Starting the day by checking phones leads to a reactive approach, resulting in a lack of productivity. Tips: Write down one to three important tasks to accomplish each day, use short gaps between meetings for small tasks, and build longer blocks of time for high-priority tasks. 

Mistake 3: Relying on Unstrategic Scheduling Our energy levels fluctuate based on our circadian rhythms, and not all hours of the day are equal. Tips: Protect peak focus hours for strategic, high-value work and schedule less important tasks during lower-energy periods. 

The conference provided a wealth of knowledge and actionable strategies to help us better serve our clients and their members. By embracing these lessons, we can stay ahead of the curve and drive meaningful outcomes in the Medicare market.
